When I first dreamed of Gentle Touch Grooming, I didn’t picture a crowded salon, endless noise, or a lineup of anxious pups waiting their turn. I pictured something quieter—something soft. A cozy space where dogs felt safe, understood, and cared for with presence rather than pressure.

And as the dream took shape, one truth became beautifully clear: I am meant to specialize in small dogs.

This wasn’t a business decision so much as a soul-aligned one. Small dogs fit harmoniously with the grooming space I’ve created and with the way I work: gently, intuitively, and without rushing. Their size allows for a slower rhythm, a quieter experience, and a level of closeness that feels more like tending than “processing.”

Here are a few of the reasons this choice matters so much:

Small dogs thrive in a calm, home-based environment

Many small dogs feel overwhelmed in large, busy grooming salons. In my home setting, they can relax. The noise is low, the energy is soft, and the atmosphere feels much more like visiting a trusted friend than going to an appointment.

A safe and sustainable setup

Working with small dogs allows me to groom without risking injury, strain, or exhaustion. They are easier to bathe, lift if needed, steady on the grooming table, and safer for one-on-one care. This keeps the experience stress-free—not just for the dog, but for me as well.

When I am grounded and comfortable, I can offer the best of myself.

Gentle, focused attention—every single time

Small dogs allow me to offer longer, slower, more attentive grooming without overwhelming them. They often benefit from the soft communication, the breaks when needed, and the quiet reassurance that a one-on-one groom allows.

It protects the heart of my business

Gentle Touch Grooming is built around presence, kindness, Reiki-infused touch, and a peaceful environment. Specializing in small dogs helps me maintain that integrity. It keeps the experience aligned with what I set out to create: soft care for small paws.

And perhaps most importantly…

It lets me give the very best of me

I take my time with each pup. I groom with intention, care, and genuine affection. I treat them like family.

Working with small dogs allows me to do that without stretching beyond what is safe or sustainable—physically, emotionally, or energetically.

This choice doesn’t limit my business. It protects it. It ensures that every dog who walks through my door receives calm, gentle care from someone who is fully present with them.

And that is what Gentle Touch Grooming was created for.
